![]() Overall chicken coop door size 14 3/8″ wide by 18 1/8″ tall plus 4 1/2″ for the control box on top. The door frame is constructed of 1.5” solid angle aluminum with an 11” wide by 15” opening. Both have photo sensors that operate the door. With different options, you can either buy the door that uses a solar panel to charge the battery or you can get the plug-in trickle charger with a battery. The Pullet-Shut Chicken Door does it all for you. I will post with any issues i may have at a latter date.Tired of going out in the rain or cold to lock up your coop or getting up a the crack of dawn to let your chickens out? To open manually, you have to unplug and replug the unit. May have to reprogram the unit to the wifi. Somewhat lighter material than I expected. Can be operated by remote, phone, or by voice through GH. The old pullet shut would swing the door open which was an issue if there was any drifting snow. Moves slow enough so as not to act as a guillotine. Works with existing solar and battery with a provided pig tail to splice with. So now we can have the door open by asking google to do it. Again, though unadvertised, it was compatible. I noted the app wasn't the same brand name so took a guess and searched if it was compatible with our google home devices. This works at a distance allowing us to open or close the door from the house. Also I had not expected there to be a pocket remote. No need to run electric to the hen house since we will be moving it later. Just for giggles, I attempted to attached the battery and solar panel I had remaining from the old door closer, and by golly it worked. I hope I don't have to do this each time the electric goes off. I then unplugged it and took the mounted door to the coop and attached it. I downloaded the app for the phone and set it up on the wifi. Found I had the door in backward causing the hinge to catch on the plywood. I ran it through its paces, opened, closed, repeat. ![]() The instructions were lacking a bit, and English must have been a second language, but over all, it went together smoothly. It took about 15 minutes to mount the hardware. I grabbed a 1/4 sheet of treated plywood and cut the recommended size door. Those would be easy to replace if I decide to do that. The door guides also seemed a bit flimsy. The gauge of metal used for the door seemed a bit light, but I guess it will work. The door panel was hinged in the middle and folded in half. I quickly opened the package to ensure it had a door included. The package I received was much smaller than I expected. ![]() ![]() We plan on relocating the coop to a different area in mid-summer. Our coop is about 170 feet from the back door and we like letting the 45 girls forage the back yard throughout the day while we are home. For comparison, we used a pullet shut door for 4 years. I recently installed the JVR Chicken Coop Door Opener. Thanks for stoping by and happy homesteading!
